How to decode the digital modes used in RNEI broadcasts.

In this guide we will be showing you how to use TIVAR, a simple Android app, to decode the hidden playlist in RNEI Broadcasts!

Step 1: install TIVAR

Being a small app made by the community, TIVAR is not yet available on the Google Play Store. This means you need to manually download and install it.
For your convenience a direct link to the TIVAR app is available here and our mirror is provided here
Because this app isn’t from the Google Play Store you will get loads of security warnings that you will need to bypass. If you are not comfortable bypassing the warnings you can’t continue sadly 😞

Step 2: There is no step 2

After you install TIVAR, it’s a matter of opening the app and putting the phone near the radio when the digital mode is playing. 📻⚡
TIVAR will automatically start decoding what it can hear and, so long as it hears the ID, you’ll have no issues!
If you click waterfall (w.fall) on/off you can see what the microphone is picking up and clicking + or – makes the input louder or quieter for TIVAR.
You need to click modem off when you are done and TIVAR will stop running. That’s mainly it!
A video demonstration is provided below (you can test out your TIVAR using this video too, just let your phone hear your headphones or speakers!):

Hopefully you now have everything you need ready to receive the digital text from RNEI shows! 😄
